What is Osteopathy?
"Osteopathy applies the combined knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology using manual techniques"
To communicate with a horse about his discomfort is to some extent gut feeling but on the other hand one has to be alert to a whole series of external signals that indicate what is going wrong internally.
In contrast with traditional veterinary science, by which the vet uses operative interventions and pharmacotherapie, the osteopath externally stimulates the body to kick start the horse's natural healing process. The osteopath only uses manual techniques. Our starting point is the self-regulating mechanism of each organism. The body always aims to restore an imbalance.
Only when the capacity to compensate for certain imbalance has been exhausted do symptoms start to show. This means that many horses suffer discomfort long before the signals are visible.
So does your horse really have a bad temper or is he just carrying a mysterious painful burden?
